Financial aid deadline

Applying from outside the United States? International admissions has its own process, its own four steps, and its own dates. Start at International Students rather than following the five steps below.

The Student Application form is online: complete it at Student Application for Admission, then gather the rest of the packet listed in step one.

School tours run Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, by appointment only. Student shadow days run September through March, also by appointment.

After Early Admission, priority goes to families who apply by the financial aid deadline of April 15. After that, call the Admissions Office to check space availability.

1

Application

Submit the following to the Admissions Office, in person or by fax at (415) 841-0833.

  • The Student Application form
  • Birth certificate
  • Immunization record
  • The non-refundable application fee of $150, or $100 during Early Admission
  • Recent report cards from the current and previous school year (high school transfer students submit a complete transcript)
  • Most recent standardized test scores from the current school (CAASPP, SBAC, etc.)
  • Student Short Answer Essay Form (6th–12th grades only)

Teacher and principal or counselor recommendation forms are requested by SFC directly from the current school for students applying to 6th–12th grades. A child enrolling in Kindergarten Beginnings must be four years old by December 1; for kindergarten, five years old by December 1.

2

Screening & Shadowing

Students applying for grades 1–12 take an in-person screening test that takes about one hour and covers math and reading. Results come back within 24–48 hours and are discussed at the student interview. During this visit, your child shadows the class they are applying to.

3

Interview

Once steps 1 and 2 are complete, we contact you to set up an in-person student interview with the administration. Interviews take about 45 minutes, and at least one parent attends with the student.

4

Acceptance

The administration makes its decision following the interview. Accepted students receive an official acceptance letter by mail.

5

Enrollment

On acceptance, parents receive enrollment instructions by email. A non-refundable $300 enrollment fee is due during enrollment, increasing to $400 two weeks after acceptance. If the class is waitlisted, enrollment opens when space becomes available.
