The H.E.A.R.T. of SFC

Healthy Body, Eager Mind, Appropriate Emotions, Relational Focus, Transformed Life, a pattern drawn from Luke 2:52, with concrete marks an SFC student grows toward in each.

The H.E.A.R.T. of SFC is a comprehensive description of our intention to address each student holistically. We educate the mind through strong academics, but addressing the mind alone is insufficient. Luke 2:52 says that Jesus grew in wisdom, stature, and in favor with God and man. SFC seeks to follow this pattern of health, growth, and development by providing a rich learning environment and the opportunity for each student to develop healthy bodies, eager minds, appropriate emotions, right relations, and a transformed life.

Healthy Body

A recognition that the body, the temple of the Holy Spirit, is used for the glory of God in life. (1 Cor. 6:19–20, 10:31)

  • demonstrate sportsmanship in all activities.

  • adopt effective study skills.

Appropriate Emotions

The awareness that expression of godly emotions reveals a Spirit-filled life. (Phil. 4:6–7, Rom. 15:13, Gal. 5:22–23)

An SFC student will:

  • discern from God’s Word the difference between godly and fleshly emotions and choose to yield to the Holy Spirit.
  • respond appropriately according to the Fruit of the Spirit. (Galatians 5:21–22)
  • empathize with others.
  • identify, communicate, and express emotions appropriately.

  • demonstrate compassion and respect for others.

  • share God’s love and compassion globally.

Transformed Life

The understanding of the one true God and a relationship with Him is the foundation of life. (John 3:7, Romans 12:2, John 15:4–5)
